To Start Your Weekend, Let Me Pour You A Beer

I will be guest bartending tonight from 6-9PM at East Village Tavern. $3 pours until 7PM, then there will be an extended happy hour deal with $5 drafts until 9PM. Come on by and let me pour you an amazing American craft brew to get your weekend started. I plan to thoroughly enjoy some of the Troegs Mad Elf and Bear Republic Apex Imperial IPA (to stay warm of course). You might even be able to try some homebrew that the BeerMenus team recently bottled.

In a recent blog post on More Intelligent Life, sister magazine of the Economist, Daniel Arizona wrote a piece titled "It's A Good Time To Be A Beer Snob." He wrote "New York is like the internet: It has everything you could possibly ever want and more, but you have to know where to look, otherwise you feel like you’re on a bus searching for a Fabergé egg in Dallas... For most of us, BeerMenus.com is our one-stop guide, exclusively documenting, tracking and pinpointing who is pouring what and where in the city. " A special thanks to Daniel Arizona and the places that update their menus here. Read More

Cask Beer... In Growlers

By will
on Dec 01, 08

The number of places in NYC that offer cask beer is truly representative of the amazing beer culture. More and more bars and restaurants are learning the best serving techniques for delivering unpasteurized, naturally carbonated “cask ale.” Tasting a beer in cask form next to the same beer in bottle or regular draft form will quickly show you the difference.

The latest innovation to hit the five boroughs is cask beer in a growler. A growler is a half gallon glass bottle that allows you to enjoy draft (or now cask) beer at home. Bierkraft in Brooklyn and New Beer in Manhattan now offer cask beer in growler form. This means you can enjoy the unpasteurized and naturally carbonated form of beer in your home. Brilliant!

According to the people at Bierkraft, their cask growlers will last about a week if unopened, and they will last one day once opened. Pick one up when you are ready to drink and enjoy beer in its natural and fresh form.
